A controller-only set-up offers a similar degree of mobilty as the laptop-only set-up, adding an ease of use similar to a traditional DJ set-up. A single audio cable is used to connect to the PA. If the audio controller does not feature an audio interface, the audio can be played back by the laptop or by using an external audio interface such as AUDIO 8 DJ or AUDIO KONTROL 1.

The expanded Controller set-up integrates classic sound sources, such as a CD player. Therefore it is possible to integrate non-computer based tracks (e.g. CDs from guests) into the set.
