In the Timecode Control set-up (e.g. using TRAKTOR SCRATCH), specially encoded vinyl discs or CDs are used to control the software. Thus, the classic DJ set-up is digitalized.
Note: TRAKTOR SCRATCH certified mixers with an integrated audio interface don't need an external audio interface.

Use
Professional club setup. Especially useful in smaller DJ booths as the small amount of extra equipment doesn't take up much space.

The Timecode control set-up can be further extended by smaller auxiliary controllers, in order to control those functions of the software that can't be controlled by the deck (e.g. track loading and looping). Some mixers come with integrated soundcards so external audio interfaces aren’t required.
