Does the KONTAKT 3 library replace or add to the KONTAKT 2 library?
For the most part the KONTAKT 3 Library is new and does not contain patches from the KONTAKT 2 Library.
However, the Kontakt 2 Library/01 - VSL Kontakt Orchestra/Samples (7.5 GB) is included in the KONTAKT 3 Library, but here as well, the patches have been optimized in KONTAKT 3. That means, in case you are still using KONTAKT 2 with its library in old projects, you should keep the KONTAKT 2 VSL Library, since KONTAKT 2 can not read the VSL patches from KONTAKT 3. If you do not use KONTAKT 2 anymore, you can delete this part from your hard drive.
Furthermore, there are single patches/folders that are included in the KONTAKT 3 library:
• Kontakt 2 Library/02 - KSP Instruments/02 - Akkord Guitar/Akkord Guitar Samples (1.4 GB)
• Kontakt 2 Library/03 - Grand Pianos/02 August Foerster/Samples (1.4 GB)
That makes a total of ca.11 MB out of 33 MB from the KONTAKT 3 library that has been taken from the KONTAKT 2 library.
The following Instruments/Folders from the KONTAKT 2 library are not included in the KONTAKT 3 library:
06 - Acoustic Drums
07 - Electronic Drums
08 - Percussion
09 - Guitars
10 - Basses
11 - Synthesizers
12 - Loops
13 - Surround
It makes sense to keep at least these Instruments from the KONTAKT 2 library on the hard drive, as patches can be loaded into KONTAKT 3.
Note, KONTAKT 2 will not be able to load KONTAKT 3 patches.

It would be useful to know what specific libraries have been replaced versus what has been added. The previous comment was not clear.
what about 02 - KSP Instruments 03 - Grand Pianos 04 - Electric Pianos 05 - Organs and Harpsichord 14 - Banks 15 - Multis Are they already included in K3 library? Where? Cheers, M.
This information is confusing and appears contradictory. First, you write: "For the most part the KONTAKT 3 Library is new and does not contain patches from the KONTAKT 2 Library." Then, you write: "The following Instruments/Folders from the KONTAKT 2 library are not included in the KONTAKT 3 library...." After reading the article, it's still unclear *exactly* what to keep or delete (aside from VSL).
