I can not load my third party library into KONTAKT - (Mac)

In case you get the error message "The content you are trying to load is not registered!" when trying to load patches from an INTAKT / KOMPAKT / KONTAKT PLAYER 1 third party library within KONTAKT, you can fix this by following the information below.

Note that this article is split in two sections. Section 1 covers a workaround for KONTAKT 2 customers while section 2 shows how to do this in KONTAKT 3 (3.5.0 or higher).

Please note that this process is easier in KONTAKT 3.5 due to some new features introduced in this version. If you have KONTAKT 3.5 installed you should use this version to work with your libraries.


Section 1: KONTAKT 2

Please make sure that your Library is installed and activated properly on your computer. If that is the case and you can load an instrument in the stand alone mode in the respective player (INTAKT/KOMPAKT/KONTAKT PLAYER 1), but in KONTAKT it still does not work, please do the following:

Make sure KONTAKT is not running.
Attached you'll find a file called "Content.plist" (below in the Attachment section).
Unzip this file and put the resulting file into the following folder:
  •  Macintosh HD/Users/~your username~/Library/Preferences
If there is a file with the same name, you can replace it.
Now start KONTAKT and try loading the Library again.

Attention: The "Content.plist" file in this Article is not the correct one for EastWest Hardcore Bass. For EastWest Hardcore Bass please see the "Related Articles" section below to get to the correct Article and File.

For Hardcore Bass Pro XP the file below is the correct file though.

If you have followed all this, you are using an Intel-Mac and still cannot load your library into KONTAKT:
You are probably running KONTAKT as a plug-in on an Intel-Mac while your sequencer is opened using Rosetta. To investigate please do the following:
  1. quit the sequencer
  2. locate the sequencer application file
  3. click on it once to select it, then press command-I to get info
  4. in the info window check that "Kind" is "Application (Universal)". If so, make sure "Open using Rosetta" is unchecked.
If you find for "Kind": "Application (PowerPC)" then your sequencer is not comptible to Intel-Macs, so it will be opened using Rosetta in any case (the sequencer will show poor performance therefore as well). In order to use the library with KONTAKT you need to update your sequencer to get a universal binary version.


Section 2: KONTAKT 3.5.0 (or higher)

1. update to one of the latest versions of KONTAKT (KONTAKT 3.5.0 if you use KONTAKT 3 or KONTAKT 4)

2. in case the library does not automatically appear in the Libraries tab within the KONTAKT browser, please click on "Add Library" and navigate to the appropriate INTAKT / KOMPAKT / KONTAKT PLAYER 1 Library folder; than press "choose".

3. if the Library has not yet been activated with Service Center on the computer, a "Activate" button appears in Library box. By clicking on it Service Center is started automatically.

4. Enter the serial number for the Library within Service Center and click "Activate".

5. Restart KONTAKT.

Now the Library patches can be used in KONTAKT 3.5.0 (full version) / KONTAKT PLAYER 3.5.0.


Final Note: Any third party library - including KONTAKT PLAYER 2 Libraries - must be activated with Service Center before loading them in any KONTAKT version.

    Absolutely spot-on. I was about to put my hair out considering how many times I had installed & uninstalled EWQLSC as I was not able to load any samples into Kontakt 2 . In future if I have another problem I'm phone NI tech help, they were 100% on the money and so swift. Thanks

    It dosn't work for me, I use Macbook pro with OSX 10.5.3, Kontakt 3.02, and EWQLSO Silver Edition, the silver standalone Kompakt can be run, it's version is 1.0.2.0021. But when I load the instruments of EWQL in Kontakt 3, it still said "The content you are trying to load is not registered!" I didn't installed my EWQL sound library in the same foder with stand alone program.

    Nope, this didnt happen for me either. I have EWQLSC, and Kontact 3 for MAC and Logic 8. Same error msg appeared "The content you are trying to load is not registered"!! Does anyone have any ideas? Im about to send my choir plug in back..!

    Nope, not for me either. I've only got two or three to work. All the others just freeze when I try to authorise. Thousands of pounds of Zero G and East West stuff not accessible on Mac Pro, Kontakt is a not an adequate relacement interface.

    I just tryed to boot Sibalius on Mac x.5.4 after installing a new hard disc. I have used the SC and it tell me I am registered , I can not get kontakt player to work and It wont let me save , I was unable to unregister Sibalius when my other hard disk failed. I have down loaded sibalius up date . I have spent a week trying to get some work finished . What can I do. Nicolas lyon

    I can't load EWQLSO Gold edition pro libraries into kontakt 3. It says the samples are not registered but when I use them with Kontakt (comes with East West SO) they work just fine. I've already launched de Registration Tool and it says registration is complete. What should I do? Thanks

    It's always telling me: The patch you're trying to load cannot be used with this application. and trust me i did everything mentioned...it's no matter of registering i try to load colossus lib to finally get em into my fancy new intel mac...

    Hi! I have VSL Opus 1, Solo Strings, and Epic Horns. Some files (mainly Opus 1) load fine, but others like Epic Horns "Cannot locate" the samples. They have not been moved or renamed, and still open fine in ESX24. The automatic search functions do not succeed. Occasionally I can locate them manually, but this is very time consuming, and not always successful.

    Nevermind! I was misusing the "search folder" option. It works fine. Awesome product. I am thrilled to use all my VSL sounds (or any ESX24 samples!) right inside Pro Tools! Thank you NI.

    Hi There i have been try to get my Kontakt instrument Library but all the time when i open the application i get nothing about the instrument and this it is happen most the times. please help me to get the instrument library again
