Application Shows Only a Blank White Window

Under Mac OS 10.5.x you may get only a blank white window when starting the standalone application or when instantiating a plug-in in a host.

Try the following workarounds in the given order if you are experiencing this issue:

1. Change color profile
  1. Go to the "System Preferences"
  2. Select "Displays"
  3. Choose the "Color" Tab
  4. Uncheck the "Show profile for this display only"
  5. Select the "sRGB IEC61966-2.1" profile
  6. Restart the computer
  7. Start the application. It should now open correctly.
Only if the above does not help, try the second workaround:

2. Change display color resolution
  1. Remove any additional displays that are connected to the Mac, restart, open System Preferences -> Monitors.
  2. Switch Colors to a lower value (i.e. from 16.7 millions to 32786, or "Millions" to "thousands").
  3. Restart the Mac. Then start the affected application (as standalone or plug-in, depending)
  4. The window should now no longer be white
  5. Quit the application
  6. Switch colors back to original value
  7. Restart the Mac, start the application again
  8. Window should still be drawn correctly
  9. If you have additional displays, you should now shut down the Mac and reconnect them.
