Using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility

Sometimes when you are installing an application or a driver on your Windows system, the installation may suddenly fail for some unknown reason.

This can sometimes cause an unsuccessful re-install or uninstall because the original install files are corrupted or missing.

In this case, it can help to use a utility from Microsoft to repair or remove the installation information. The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility can help in these cases.

NOTE: Please be aware that the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. It will only remove any remaining traces of the install that are preventing you from uninstalling or reinstalling a particular program on your system.

(Please be aware some applications or programs might not be repaired if the Microsoft Windows Installer was not used as part of the install process.)

For more information about how to install, use, and troubleshoot the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, see the "Contents of the Readme.txt file" section.

You can download the program from this page on Major Geeks.
